Paw-tastic Peanut butter, Pumpkin Treats
Has your pup been such a good boy or girl and you want to give them a yummy treat as a reward? My pups love a good cookie but I hate always giving them the store bought, processed treats so I love trying out different homemade recipes that I find. This recipe is by "Mydogrecipe" and it was a big hit with my pups. The best part it was only three simple ingredients! In the original recipe they used a mini donut pan but I didn't have one of those on hand so I just used some silicone pans I had around. I hope your pups find them as tasty as mine did!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
-1/4 cup peanut butter (unsweetened, and unsalted)
-1 cup oat flour
** Most importantly: Make sure your peanut butter is Xylitol free. Xylitol can also be labeled as Birch butter. This ingredient is very toxic too dogs.
A couple other notes on the ingredients I used:
1) I used Skippy peanut butter shown in the picture. Usually I use the natural version but I ran out. If you have the option I would choose the natural version.
2) Make sure you get pure pumpkin puree and NOT pumpkin pie mix.
3) I did not have oat flour so I used my food processor to grind up the oats and it worked completely fine.
Steps:
1) Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a silicon mold or a donut pan.
2) Mix together the pumpkin puree, the peanut butter, and the oat flour until well combined.
3) Spoon into the mold and bake approximately 8 minutes until lightly golden around the edges.
4) Remove the oven and allow to cool.
Optional: You can add a little peanut butter topping but melting peanut butter in the microwave (approximately 30 seconds) and dipping the treats in.
* You can store in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to a month.
Thank you "Mydogrecipe for this delicious recipe!
